Current research has focused on the impact of pro-inflammatory cytokines on inflammation levels & chronic health conditions. During an infection, the body naturally produces pro-inflammatory cytokines as part of its defense mechanism. The healthy body balances pro-inflammatory cytokines with anti-inflammatory cytokines. However, if these pro-inflammatory cytokines (i.e. IL-1, IL-6, IL-8, IL-17, IL-23), Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-a), Nuclear Factor kappa Beta (NF-kß) continue in the “on position” and inflammation levels remain high, adverse health may be the result. Acute inflammation occurs almost immediately after trauma — from a cut or break, to a heart attack. Chronic inflammation is an ongoing process, breaking down or destroying tissue as it is repaired over and over.

CytoQuel® has been developed to promote healthy cytokine activity. Based on the latest published research, CytoQuel® offers you and your patients an effective new tool in the quest for healthy inflammation levels.

CurcuWIN Form of Curcumin

We have formulated this product with CurcuWIN™ turmeric extract, a new ingredient with published research showing absorption at a rate of 46 times standard curcumin and over 6 to 30 times greater than other enhanced curcumin products. This increased bioavailability advantage was consistently maintained for each of the twelve hours measured in this study. CurcuWIN combines curcumin with a hydrophilic (allowing it to disperse in water) carrier, using the UltraSOL™ molecular dispersion technology. UltraSOL converts lipophilic (fat loving or fat absorbing) nutrients into water-dispersible ingredients. Curcumin is notoriously hydrophobic (not absorbed in water). It creates clumps when placed in water. The clumps reduce the body’s ability to efficiently utilize the nutrient. CurcuWIN™ utilizes the UltraSOL™ technology platform creating a molecular dispersion, which is another way of saying this technology creates incredibly small particles. The micro particles are then coated with food-grade excipients and antioxidants to protect and stabilize curcumin. The excipients facilitate better dispersion in aqueous solution while the antioxidants protect and facilitate more efficient utilization within the body. Curcumin (turmeric extract) is a favorite of doctors who want to promote healthy inflammation levels.

Testing for Inflammation

Generalized inflammation testing is available for doctors and their patients. The most commonly mentioned test is C-reactive protein (CRP). Elevated CRP-levels can be measured in blood in response to inflammation. Initially used solely as a marker for potential cardiovascular risk, it is now a marker to measure ongoing inflammation in the body. The CDC and American Heart Association consider low inflammation if the CRP is less than 1.0 mg/L, with high risk being above 3.0 mg/L. Many doctors use the CRP or the highly sensitive CRP (hs-CRP) test as an indicator of inflammation. If patients are elevated, doctors often times council patients on lifestyle changes (i.e. diet, exercise). They may also turn to pharmaceutical and/or nutraceuticals to promote a healthy change.
